Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
This page explains what personal data we collect when you visit universitystores.co.uk, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We aim to keep this short and plain.
Who we are
University Stores is a convenience shop trading at 129 College Road, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 2EF. We are the data controller for any personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at admin@universitystores.co.uk.
What we collect
The website itself does not ask you for personal information. There are no forms, sign-ups, or accounts. We collect data in two ways:
- Anonymised analytics. Vercel Web Analytics records anonymised page visits and basic device information. It does not set cookies and does not identify you. We use it to understand which pages visitors find useful.
- Google Maps. The Find us section embeds an interactive map from Google. When the map loads, Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. This only happens after you accept third-party cookies in our consent banner. Until then, the map uses a cookie-free OpenStreetMap fallback.
- Email you send us. If you click the email link to contact us, your email and whatever you write are received by us. We use them only to reply to your enquiry.
Legal basis
We process anonymised analytics on the basis of legitimate interest (understanding how the website is used). We process Google Maps data on the basis of your consent. We process emails you send us on the basis of legitimate interest (responding to your enquiry).
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved are Vercel (our hosting provider, who runs the analytics) and Google (only if you load the embedded map). Both are processors operating on our instructions.
International transfers
Vercel and Google process data in the United States. Both organisations operate under appropriate safeguards including the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Retention
Anonymised analytics are aggregated and retained without identifying you. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to object, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@universitystores.co.uk.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please email us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes.
